Mindful living, thinking, breathing is becoming a concept that is spoken about more and more. My thoughts on this? Amazing.
Being more mindful in our everyday life is something I think we should all try to do. Personally, I have tried to be more mindful on my journey to and from work. I make the conscious effort every journey to help someone. I have only recently started to commute during rush hour and my golly can it be a sweaty, stressful trip. However, I’ve noticed how the majority of people are so focused on themselves, on rushing to get to the train that they often barge past people or ignore people in need. So, on every journey I try and do something for someone else - whether that be offer my seat, help someone with a push chair up some stairs or just be a friendly and kind person in amongst the hustle and bustle.
Now, I can’t speak for the people who I encounter with, but I can speak for myself. Doing these tiny gestures make all the difference on my mood for the day. It puts me in the right frame of mind to continue to make positive decisions through the day. I hope that is has the same effect on others. I hope it makes them want to be kinder to the people around them and offer a stranger a helping hand. Try it on your next outing – smile at strangers, offer to help someone with their bags and I’m sure not only will you feel so much better about yourself, but you will make that strangers day just that little bit brighter.
